The active ingredient, Pythium Oligandum is an organism that lives naturally in soil, growing between the roots of certain plants. It acts as a mycoparasite, meaning it harmlessly consumes other fungi and yeast to survive, while not causing any harm to animals, humans or plants.

Pythium also has an antibacterial effect in the area while it is present. Once it has eaten all the fungi yeast present it encapsulates and returns to the earth where it came from.
